Chiropractic

Chiropractors are commonly known as back doctors. Indeed, many of the therapeutic applications are applied to the spine. What you don't see is the aligning of the spine or the restoration of function to the nervous system. So a more accurate description is that Chiropractors are nerve doctors.

When a vertebra in your spine moves out of place to the point where it affects the function of a nerve, that is called a subluxation. This comes from the word luxation, which means complete dislocation. When a subluxation occurs, a chiropractor performs an adjustment to put that vertebra back where it should be. The doctors at Sand Creek Chiropractic are well-versed in many different adjusting techniques and are committed to finding which ones work best for YOU.

The body's nervous system is vital to your health. Nerves go to muscles, organs, skin and other tissues of the body. When a subluxation occurs, the nerve that exits at that level suffers impaired function, which can eventually lead to pain and disease. Pain is the final sign of subluxation. It was likely present long before the pain set in.

After an adjustment, the vertebra can move back to being subluxated very easily, especially at first. This is because the ligaments that hold the spinal vertebrae together have been stretched. If you have ever had a sprained ankle, you have an idea of how long it takes the ligaments to heal. Ligaments take a very long time to heal compared to other tissues in the body. Chiropractors make adjustments as frequently as is necessary for your stage of healing.
